This Draft Technical Regulation (Official Mexican Standard) establishes the safety requirements for toys that are manufactured, imported and marketed in the national territory. Examples of the toys that are in scope of this draft standard include: – Non-aquatic inflatable toys; – Aquatic toys; – Electric trains; – Instruments and apparatus for toy music; – Toys intended for children up to 36 months of age; – Rattles and teethers – Balloons; – Wooden toys; – Projectile toys; – Roller skates – Skateboards; – Toy rocking chairs; – Stuffed dolls; – Toy-scale vehicles; – Modeling dough; – Large games to be installed outdoors (slides, slides, seesaws, among others); Examples of the products whereby this Draft Standard is not applicable to: – Products collectibles that are not intended for children under the age of 14; – Holiday decorations that are intended primarily for ornamental purposes; – Aquatic equipment that is intended to be used in deep water; – Video game arcades that are installed in public places; – Puzzles; – Fireworks; – Products containing heating elements for use under adult supervision in an educational context; – Toy steam engines or machines; – Video games that can be connected to a video screen and operated at a nominal voltage greater than 24 V; – Fashion accessories for girls; – Automatic coin-operated game machines or not intended for public use; – Toy vehicles equipped with combustion engines; – Bicycles; – Personal protective equipment including swim goggles, sunglasses, and other eye protectors; – Toys that do not contain electrical parts or are intended for children over 14 years of age; – Kites; – Model kits, hobby items and handicrafts, in which the finished article is not primarily for play; – Camping and sporting goods and equipment; – Model airplanes, rockets, ships, and land vehicles powered by combustion engines.
