Europe – Updates on Safety Data Sheets – Change to Annex II REACH

Tiempo estimado de lectura: 28 segundos

Safety data sheets (SDS) are an essential part for professional user or producer of substances and mixtures to communicate general and safety-related information such as hazard classification and labeling according to CLP Regulation(1), information on hazardous ingredients as well as protective equipment and measures in case of accidental release and fire. For professional users, a safety data sheet must be provided in connection with the first delivery of a substance or mixture. In the event of relevant changes (e.g. the hazardous substance classification), an updated version must be sent. On June 26, 2020, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2020/878(2) amending Annex II of the REACH Regulation(3) with regard to requirements for the preparation of safety data sheets. The changes must now be implemented promptly, since the transition periods expire at the end of the year. Safety data sheets that do not comply with the amended Annex II may continue to be made available until December 31, 2022.
