On 28 January 2026, the Members of the Legal Affairs Committee held an exchange of views on the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency with the Minister of Justice and Public order of Cyprus Constantinos Fitiris. The members of JURI Committee voted on the codification of the European Union designs dossier (2025/0190(COD)) and on the Copyright and generative artificial intelligence – opportunities and challenges initiative (2025/2058(INI)).
The Members also voted on the European Union regulatory fitness and subsidiarity and proportionality – report on Better Law-Making covering 2023 and 2024 initiative (2025/2015(INI)) and on the opinion on the discharge 2024: General budget of the EU – Court of Justice of the European Union (2025/2148(DEC)). At the same meeting the Legal Affairs committee considered the draft opinion on the Commission’s 2025 Rule of Law report – annual report 2025 (2025/2239(INI)) and also the draft report on the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships (2025/0233(NLE)).
