
On 22-23 June 2026, the Members of the Legal Affairs Committee heard the presentation of the study on ‘Countering online piracy of sports and broadcast in the EU’ organized in cooperation with the Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs. At the same meeting Members considered the draft report on amendments to the Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (2026/0044(COD)).
JURI Members heard the reporting back to committee on the mission to the US (Washington DC and Boston) which took place in May. On the agenda was also the consideration of three draft opinions, namely the opinions to the Digital Omnibus (2025/0360(COD)), the European Biotech Act (2025/0406(COD)) and the opinion to AFET’s initiative ‘Towards an EU strategy to protect and strengthen the international justice system and its institutions, mechanisms and partners’ (2026/2004(INI)). Finally, the legal Affairs Committee members heard the presentation by the Commissioner for Economy and Productivity; Implementation and Simplification, Valdis Dombrovskis, on the communication by the European Commission on A Simpler, Clearer and Better Enforced EU Rulebook.
