Under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) reviewed existing energy standards for fluorescent lamp ballasts to determine if stricter regulations were necessary. The DOE concluded that amending these standards is currently not cost-effective and has proposed to keep the existing requirements unchanged. Public comments and supporting data regarding this initial determination are being accepted through June 1, 2026.
