Taiwan – Proposes to Regulate Three More Organotin Compounds

​The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of Taiwan proposed to add three more organotin compounds to the List of Toxic Substances under the Toxic and Chemical Substances of Concern Control Act (TCSCCA). Currently, the EPA is regulating 35 organotin compounds and now proposed to control 3 more which are: Triphenyl-α-naphthyltin ​Tripropyltin fluoride Tritriphenylstannyl methane​ Organotin compounds are considered to have endocrine disrupting properties. They are mainly used in anti-fouling paints and coatings applying on the surface of boats / ships. They are also used as insecticides and molluscicides. The EPA plans to give the public and industries a transition period of one to two years before fully implementing the new requirements.
