EU – Cancelling the Approval of Tolylfluanid as an Active Substance for Use in Certain Biocidal Products

​Tolylfluanid was approved as an active substance for use in biocidal products of product-type 7, film preservatives as described in the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR). As the initial applicant for the approval indicated that it stopped the production of the active substance and the placing on the EU market of biocidal products containing it and will not seek the renewal of approval of the substance. Moreover, given that there are no other suppliers of the substance, the Commission considered appropriate to cancel the approval of tolylfluanid as an active substance for use in biocidal products of product-type 7. As a result, treated articles treated with or incorporating tolylfluanid for product-type 7 shall not be placed on the EU market from May 10, 2023.
