Highlights – Votes, joint JURI-DROI hearing and structured dialogue with the European Commission – Committee on Legal Affairs

Parliament plays a central role in EU lawmaking, but voting in the hemicycle is only a part of the picture.  
 
Before those big votes, MEPs work to improve proposals drafted by the EU Commission. But how?

On 24 February 2026, the Members of the Legal Affairs Committee will meet in Brussels to vote on the opinion to the interim report on the proposal for the multiannual financial framework for 2028-2034 (2025/0571R(APP)) and on the report on the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships (2025/0233(NLE)). JURI Members will also vote on the opinion to LIBEs report on the Commission’s 2025 Rule of Law report – annual report 2025 (2025/2239(INI)).

Votes on JURI’s own-initiative report on the monitoring the application of European Union law in 2023, 2024 and 2025 (2025/2016(INI)) and on the opinion to IMCO and LIBEs report on Digital Omnibus on AI (2025/0359(COD)) are also scheduled. On the agenda is also an Exchange of views to the opinion to the report on the establishment of European Business Wallets (2025/0358(COD)), followed by the presentation of JURI Committee`s gender mainstreaming action plan.JURI Members will also hold jointly with DROI a hearing on the immunity of United Nations and International Criminal Court officials, followed by the presentation of the annual report 2025 of the EP Coordinator on Children’s Rights by the Vice-President of the European Parliament. The meeting will end with exchange of views in the context of the structured dialogue with Michael McGrath, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection.
