
On 3 and 4 December 2025, the JURI Committee hosted, in cooperation with the Policy Department, a workshop on the 45th Anniversary of the Signing of the 1980 Hague Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. Furthermore, and in order to mark the Disability Rights Week, the Legal Affairs Committee hosted a public hearing focusing on the legal capacity and supported decision-making mechanisms of adults.
The Members of the JURI Committee also had the occasion of exchanging views with Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath on the 2025 annual progress report on simplification, implementation and enforcement. JURI Members also invited the Commissioner for Economy and Productivity; Implementation and Simplification, Valdis Dombrovskis to an exchange of views concerning the 2025 overview report on the same subject. At the same meetings, JURI Members also voted on the recommendation for second reading of the compulsory licensing for crisis management legislative dossier (2023/0129(COD)).
