Ofcom has proposed enabling an Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system in the 6 GHz band (5925–7125 MHz) to support Standard Power Wi-Fi deployments in the UK, with a three-phase registration process for AFC service providers that includes technical and security requirements but no registration fees or fixed terms. Standard Power Wi-Fi devices must have geolocation capabilities and use the AFC system to determine available frequencies and power levels, while mobile client devices cannot initiate networks or connect directly to other devices.
