South Korea – Amendment to the «Technical Standards for Terminal Equipment» to Enhance the Security of Video Information Processing Devices

​The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) has announced an amendment to the «Technical Standards for Terminal Equipment» to enhance the security of video information processing devices, particularly regarding password requirements and compliance for cloud-based devices. Password Requirements for Video Information Processing Devices (Article 29): – Passwords must meet one of the following conditions: At least 8 characters long, combining three of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. At least 10 characters long, combining two of the above categories. If a password is entered incorrectly a maximum of 5 consecutive times, the device must block access for a period of 30 seconds to 60 minutes.​​ – Exemption for Cloud-Based Devices: Video information processing devices that operate based on cloud services are considered compliant with the password requirements if they meet the separate testing conditions specified in KS X 3078, the national standard for conformity assessment testing methods for terminal devices connected to digital broadcasting, telecommunications, and integrated information communication facilities.
