The EU commission has published a proposal to restrict Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in clay targets for shooting. The proposal amends RREACH Annex XVII Entry 50a and restrict PAH on their own or as constituents of other substances, in clay targets for shooting if they contain more than 50 mg/kg (0.005 % by weight of dry mass of the clay target) of the sum of all listed 18 PAHs. 50a. Clay targets are manufactured using different types of binders, including coal tar pitch high temperature (CTPht) which was included in Annex XIV of REACH (The Authorization List) in 2017.
