Brazil – New INMETRO Label for Refrigerators Comes into Force from January 1, 2026

​Starting from January 1, 2026, the new rules for the National Energy Conservation Label (ENCE) for refrigerators in Brazil will come into effect, as established by INMETRO Ordinances No. 332/2021 and No. 736/2024. The main changes include the elimination of the A+, A++, and A+++ subclasses, which will be replaced by only three energy efficiency classes: A, B, and C, aligned with international standards and the minimum efficiency levels defined by the Energy Efficiency Indicators and Levels Management Committee (CGIEE). The new label also adopts the technical standards IEC 62552-2:2020 and IEC 62552-3:2020, and advises consumers to pay attention to the energy efficiency class and monthly energy consumption in kWh to make more conscious and economical choices.
