Chile – Preliminary Draft of the Revision Process of Supreme Decree No. 129 of 2002 of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, Which Establishes the Noise Emission Standard for Urban and Rural Collective Locomotion Buses

Tiempo estimado de lectura: 27 segundos

The standard establishes noise emission limits for collective locomotion buses, differentiated according to the type of vehicle (light or medium/heavy), the type of test (dynamic or stationary) and the measurement position (exhaust, engine, interior and exterior). These limits apply both to new bus models that enter the country and to buses currently in operation, considering the year of incorporation into the vehicle fleet. The sources subject to compliance with this standard are light, medium and heavy buses for collective locomotion, both new – whether manufactured, assembled or imported – and those in operation, which provide urban or rural transport services. Compliance with the standard is monitored through different mechanisms: For new bus models, verification is carried out at the Vehicle Control and Certification Center of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications. For buses in operation, control is carried out at the Technical Review Plants and through inspection on public roads.
